Technology for Online and Long Distance Lovers

Violet mentioned how important communication is to a long-distance online relationship. I thought I'd write today about some of the technology you can use to facilitate that.

If you're not familiar with Skype, then today's your (and your lover's) lucky day. Skype delivers impressive quality video and audio for free to if you're talking to other Skype users. If you need to make a call to a telephone Skype is generally much cheaper than the phone company.

Violet and I have a love-hate relationship with Skype. I can't tell you how many times we've been going at it when suddenly Skype decided it didn't want to work. The camera would be focused on Violet's pussy, her hips bucking against her fingers--obviously about to cum--and then arrrggggghhhh! Nothing kills the moment like a call that won't stay connected. I must say however, that something has changed with Skype and it is MUCH better now than it used to be.

You'll need a decent headset and microphone--I strongly recommend USB headsets with the microphone built in. I've brought several from Plantronics and generally like them. Violet prefers wireless USB headsets so she can chat while she roams around the house.

You'll also need a decent web cam. It's common for laptops to come with one built in, but if not you can get good one's from Logitech or Microsoft. If you need to buy one for your Mac make sure you get one supported by the Macam driver.

Violet and I both have Skype on our cell phones as well. Since we talk constantly and live on different continents, talking on the phone can be quite expensive. Since Violet's in the UK, she can buy an official Skype phone that works through the normal phone system. She just has to punch in a code to access a Skype line.

You can't get the type of phone that Violet has in the US, but can get a phone through Skype that will use a wireless internet connection. This is fine if you're sitting in a coffee shop, but not if you're picking out some new toys at the local adult shop and want to get your lover's opinion on which type of nipple clamps to buy. Instead, I have a Windows Mobile phone from AT&T (I bought the Tilt model) and downloaded Skype onto it.

There are other online video telephony products and Violet and I tried several, for example PalTalk, SightSpeed. Many don't work on the Mac, and none of them that Violet and I tried just don't measure up to Skype. It is nice though to have another choice for those frustrating times when you need some face time (or perhaps some ass time) and Skype isn't cooperating. For those times we use Microsoft's Live Messenger, although you can't get streaming video on the Mac version.

Finally, here are a few items of that I hope will be available soon. (If you're a manufacturer, let us know and we'll be willing to beta test for you!)

• A USB vibrator that can be controlled remotely. I should be able to control vibration speed, head rotation, and possibly in and out motion. Maybe something Violet can sit on--with a web cam built in with a strategic viewing position!
• Web cam with multiple independent lenses so that I can see different views of Violet at the same time!
• Nipple clamps that can be remotely tightened for when Violet is a naughty girl... which is always.
• I hear surgeons can do operations remotely using robotic arms. When can I get one with a paddle attachment for when Violet is PARTICULARLY bad.... which again is always.
